Samsung Electronics is, during a panel discussion at VivaTech 2026Europe’s largest startup and technology fair held in Paris, presented its vision of connected healthcare, a concept powered by Samsung’s open collaborative ecosystem.
Hon Pak, the manager, participated in the panel Digital Health team within Samsung Electronics’ Mobile eXperience (MX) division, along with four other speakers: David Lee, head of Samsung Next; Mike McSherry, CEO of Xealth; Alina Su, CEO of Generation Lab and Michael Dubrovsky, CEO of SiPhox Health. Together, they presented to an audience of approximately 1,000 global participants the direction in which the future of health care is developing.
As panel moderator, David Lee highlighted the key role of partnerships. “The future of health cannot be built by one company alone,” said Lee. “It must be created through an open ecosystem of collaboration between different innovators.”
Building an open healthcare ecosystem
Samsung has a broad portfolio of devices and platforms, from semiconductors to mobile phones, wearables, home appliances and televisions. The company leverages its global scale to develop a strong, collaborative ecosystem with numerous partners in various business areas.
By integrating Samsung devices with partner solutions within this open ecosystem, Xealth, Generation Lab and SiPhox Health are accelerating the development of connected healthcare. This healthcare vision aims to help users lead healthier and better lives through proactive health management, supported by a connected ecosystem of Samsung devices.
During the discussion, Hon Pak highlighted the breadth of reach that the Samsung company has. “Samsung Health supports more than 77 million monthly active users, while the SmartThings platform connects 460 million users.” Pak said.
SamsungSamsung has a strong advantage as a trusted brand in households, which are central to everyday life and health care. “By connecting our ecosystem of devices in the home through the SmartThings platform, we can improve the health experience where it matters most, at a time when health care is increasingly being moved into the home, a space where prevention can be implemented at scale,” Pak added.
To support this change, Samsung has integrated a wide range of devices into the SmartThings platform, including home appliances, TVs and compatible third-party devices. This enables a wide range of services, from personalized automated routines to family and pet care.
Accelerating Samsung innovation through partnerships
The panelists highlighted the developed Samsung ecosystem and open approach to cooperation as key advantages.
Alina Su from the company Generation Lab emphasized the value of this partnership. “The most exciting part of the collaboration is Samsung’s true openness and breadth of distribution. There is real scope and technical capabilities, but also a willingness to collaborate, co-create and act quickly with partners,” said Su. “When it’s connected to the devices people already use every day, innovation can become a part of their lives much faster than it would be possible on its own.”
Michael Dubrovsky from SiPhox Health also explained the benefits of collaboration. “Samsung is bringing an ecosystem of devices that already exist in people’s homes and on their bodies,” said Dubrovsky. “SiPhox adds a diagnostic layer that has always been missing from that picture. Together, continuous device data and continuous biomarker data create a truly complete picture of health that has never existed outside of the clinical setting.”
Generation Lab currently provides a solution that allows users to easily check biological age and actively manage the aging process at home, while SiPhox Health offers a service that enables active health management through laboratory-level blood tests at home.
Mike McSherry from Xealth presented the vision of providing a seamless and continuous healthcare solution, which connects clinical care in hospitals and daily health management through deep integration with Samsung.
Strengthening open cooperation and strong security
In addition to strategic partnerships, Samsung has also built an open ecosystem for the wider community of developers and researchers. By using the Samsung Health Software Development Kit (SDK) Suite of tools, they can easily create innovative wellness services that leverage advanced sensor technology and a health platform. In this way, users of the Samsung Health platform can gain access to useful new functions faster.
The security of these experiences is ensured by Samsung Knox, a proprietary solution with a high level of protection, integrated into various points of contact with users, including mobile devices, home appliances and televisions. With Knox, users can manage sensitive information within the Samsung ecosystem with greater confidence.
Speaking about the next five years of healthcare in the context of the AI era, Pak concluded: “A daily companion that knows who I am, what I need and when, will help me achieve my health goals more easily through lifestyle habits and related innovative partner services.”
