As is already known, the new Ferrari Luce was designed by Sir Jony Ive, who founded the LoveFrom studio after leaving Apple. Ive worked on the exterior and interior design of the car, and the cabin will use several OLED screens manufactured by Samsung Display.
Ferrari Luce has a total of three digital display zones, while Samsung Display will deliver four panel sizes: 12.9 inches, 12 inches, 10.1 inches and 6.3 inches. The solution is very unusual, although not as much as the car’s price of 550,000 euros.

The most interesting part is located in front of the driver, in the instrument panel. That part will have a physical pointer that passes through the OLED screen, thanks to the Samsung HIAA technology, or solution Hole In Active Area. Samsung already has a lot of experience with openings in phone screens, but the opening for the selfie camera is usually no larger than about 5 mm. In the Ferrari Luce model, the opening in the instrument panel will be about 20 times larger.
The dashboard will use two OLED panels stacked one above the other. The lower 12-inch panel will display background elements, such as instrument markers, while the upper 12.9-inch screen will have three circular apertures. Such a layered arrangement, along with the physical hands, creates a three-dimensional display, as opposed to the flat 2D look of glass screens commonly seen in cars today.
The central control panel will use a 10.1-inch OLED screen. It will offer customizable features such as a clock, stopwatch and compass. And that panel will use HIAA technology, with three physical hands running through the screen, similar to the hour, minute and second hands on a classic watch.
At the back, there will be 6.3-inch panels for rear seat passengers. They will enable climate adjustment, display of data on driving dynamics and additional functions.
Ferrari says that Samsung Display managed to support the design philosophy of the Luce model, in which software and hardware should act as one unit. The new screen system should combine Ferrari’s heritage with modern technology and bring a different experience to the cabin, reports GSM Arena.
