The internet wants this piece of crap to be the highest rated game in history


A bizarre online trend has catapulted Disney’s Cory in the House to the second highest user-rated game on Metacritic and inflated the price of used copies of the game into the hundreds of dollars.

If you go to Metacritic and look for a list of the best games by user ratings, in second place you’ll find something totally unexpected: a game called Disney Cory in the Housefrom 2008, for the Nintendo DS. It’s a game that most gamers have never even heard of, let alone played by so many people that it would be the second highest rated game of all time.

It’s in the middle here bizarre internet trendprobably originating from 4chan, which prank players engage in to popularize a totally bad game and make a joke out of user ratings on Metacritic along the way. The trend has been going on for several years, but just this month it caught on, and it is predicted that Cory in the House could threaten Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 and become the game that players have rated the best in the history of Metacritic.

Metacritic has yet to say whether they will end this reverse bombardment of reviews. But the consequences of this bizarre undertaking are already visible. Copies of Cory in the House are on eBay now they sell for hundreds of dollars.
