As part of this year’s DC Fandom event, Warner Bros released a trailer for the new “The Batman” movie directed by Matt Reeves (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes), in which Robert Pattinson (Good Time, The Lighthouse) is the new Dark Knight.
The shots show us the characters in more detail, some elements of the intrigue of the film, and promise an epic dark thriller.
Last year’s trailer had already announced the dark and brutal tonality of Batman’s return to the cinema screens. The film signed by Matt Reeves has the very difficult task of inheriting the very successful trilogy signed by Christopher Nolan, and the legacy of the successful film The Joker should not be forgotten.
In any case, it is a highly anticipated movie like Tenet, Dune, or No Time to Die.
Although the trailer for the movie The Batman lasts almost 3 minutes, it reveals almost nothing of intrigue.
The trailer begins with the arrest of Riddler, with a question mark in a cup of coffee and then we see The Penguin having fun on the streets of the city. And although we see them briefly, The Penguin (Colin Farrell) and The Riddler (Paul Dano) leave a strong impression on viewers.
But although he is very present in the trailer, Colin Farrell stated that he only acted in five or six scenes in the film. That is why the undoubted antagonist of the film is the mysterious The Riddler, who manages to successfully hide and with his obsession leads Batman to lose his cool.
So Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson will not only deal with the psychology of the protagonist but will also return to the symbol of the character’s own origin: the fear he provokes.
As the trailer itself says, the Bat-signal is “not a call, but a warning.” Whether Batman emerges from the darkness or the flames, terror is read on the faces of his opponents. Brutality and violence that we have not seen so far, they see in every Bataman’s given blow. Even Penguin says in the Batman trailer, “Oh, take it easy, sweetheart” Alfred’s words sound worrisome: “If this continues, it won’t be long until you‘ve nothing left,” It’s as if Batman’s very humanity is at stake. “Fear is a tool. When the light hits the sky, it’s not just a call. It’s a warning.”
And what about the play of shadows, colors, and lights in the trailer? A masterfully done allegory between good and evil.
Is there Joker in Batman 2022?
No there is not. But it’s good to see they bring in new villains to the new Batman movie, it has always been the Joker it seems. I do love Joker the one with Heath Ledger is a masterpiece, but mixing it up with new villains makes the Batman movies even better.

Pattinson will lead the film’s cast as the new Bruce Wayne, while other roles will be played by Zoë Kravitz (Mad Max: Fury Road) as Selina Kyle / Catwoman, Paul Dano (Prisoners, There Will Be Blood) as Edward Nashton / The Ridler, John Turturro (Barton Fink, O Brother, Where Art Thou?) as Carmine Falcone, Andy Serkis (Black Panther, Rise of the Planet of the Apes) as Alfred Pennyworth, Colin Farrell (In Bruges, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them) as Oswald Cobblepot / The Penguin, Jeffrey Wright (Westworld, No Time to Die) as Commissioner Gordon and Peter Sarsgaard (Green Lantern) is a new character to be named Gil Colson while Jayme Lawson will be the candidate for mayor of Gotham.

We have to wait until March 4, 2022 (United States) to watch the movie and see if this Batman will be very different, more ambitious, and spectacular than the previous ones.
