The short film called “Evil Has Always Had A Name” was shot to promote the upcoming Resident Evil Requiem and reminds us of the days of the fall of Raccoon City.
Remember how good those CG trailers from Resident Evil 3 looked that showed the fall of Raccoon City? I’ve always wondered what it would look like if the scenes were actually acted out and not computer generated scenes. And then, somewhere in 2005, I watched the movie Resident Evil: Apocalypse and thought that it would be better if the tragedy of Raccoon City stayed in my memory forever as a CG video from the game.
Twenty or so years later, Resident Evil returns to Raccoon City, and to promote the upcoming game they made a short feature film called “Evil Has Always Had A Name”. The film reminds us of the T-Virus outbreak, and is shown from the perspective of a mother trying to get her daughter out of the city.
The thing is atypically emotional for Resident Evil, and in just a few minutes it manages to convey the chaos on the streets of Raccoon City better than any previous Resident Evil film adaptation. Moreover, the end of the film also hints at a new breed of zombies that we will meet in Requiem – those who partially remember their lives before they became zombies.
