Cult Apple colors again on Porsche cars

The factory team Porsche Penske Motorsport will perform on the Laguna Seca track on May 3 with a special design of its Porsche 963 cars. On the occasion of the fourth round of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the German manufacturer paid tribute to the historic cooperation with the technology giant Apple. The car’s special livery is inspired by the legendary color spectrum of the Porsche 935 K3 that competed in 1980, including its appearance at the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

A historical connection of innovators

This one-off design celebrates two important anniversaries in 2026: the 75th anniversary of Porsche Motorsport and the 50th anniversary of Apple. The choice of location for the presentation of this design is not accidental, since the Laguna Seca track is located in Northern California, just a few kilometers away from Apple’s headquarters in Cupertino.

The cooperation between the two brands dates back to 1980, when the Apple logo first graced a Porsche racing car. According to the words Olivera Schusseravice president of Apple Music, that moment marked the beginning of a shared passion for innovation that continues today. Thomas Laudenbachvice president of Porsche Motorsport, emphasized that both brands are icons that represent the continuous development of experts from Zuffenhausen, Weissach and Cupertino.

Dick Barbour Racing’s historic success with the 935 K3 serves as the foundation for today’s prototype aesthetics. While Apple has become synonymous with the digital revolution, Porsche’s racing history on the same foundation of innovation dates back to 1951, when the 356 SL achieved its first class win at Le Mans.
