On this day 22 years ago, the second part of the humorous puzzle strategy Neighbors From Hell was played, which sent the neighbors on an unforgettable vacation.
In the innocent age before YouTube and social media, people called pranks pranks and hidden cams. Today they are “pranks”, and in gaming he is an early pioneer of those prank bio series Neighbors from Hell. The same debuted in 2003, and already on this day in 2004, we got a sequel called Neighbours from Hell 2: On Vacation.
It was an unusual game at the time that combined point’n’click mechanics with strategic gameplay. The player controlled the mischievous Woody who was preparing some kind of traps for his neighbors. In the sequel, these neighbors ran away from Woody on vacation, but he followed them on a cruise from China, India, Mexico – everywhere.
Neighbors from Hell games relied on slapstick comedy and gave the player the challenge of covertly setting traps. If the neighbors caught us in the act, we would lose a life and ultimately return to the very beginning of the level. The humorous tone highlighted these games and made them famous among younger PC gamers across Europe.
Neighbors from Hell 2 was initially only available for PC, but in 2017 we got a version for mobile platforms. Then in 2020 we welcomed the arrival of the series on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch platforms, in a remastered collection called Neighbours Back From Hell. The same can still be found for sale at a price of 15 euros.
