Audi is preparing to launch its new flagship, the Q9, the first full-size SUV that prioritizes the cabin experience. According to the company’s CEO, Gernot Döllner, this model is no longer just a means of transportation, but a mobile living space made of top-quality materials.
Like in a luxury home
The vehicle will be available in six- or seven-seat configurations, with the optional six-seat layout offering business-class comfort with electrically adjustable individual seats and active ventilation. For families, there is a seven-seat version, which allows up to three child seats to be installed in the second row. Practicality is emphasized by the electric folding of the backrests of the third row of seats, which provides additional luggage space.
As an announcement of the upcoming premiere, Audi published a series of photos of the interior of the Q9 model and one taken from the outside, but under camouflage. On them, we can see that the interior is luxurious, modern, full of screens and interesting lighting solutions with sophisticated materials. So, if you are a fan of expensive and luxurious interiors, you will feel like you are in an expensive living room.
The atmosphere in the cabin is further emphasized by the 1.5 square meter panoramic roof with variable transparency technology, which can be darkened in nine segments at the push of a button, as desired. The roof automatically becomes opaque when the vehicle is parked, while when driving it offers illumination via 84 LEDs in 30 different colors, coordinated with the ambient light of the interior.
Technical innovations
One of the key innovations is the door, which for the first time in Audi is electrically operated. The system can be controlled via the key, the myAudi app or by pressing the brake pedal. Safety is ensured by an extensive set of sensors that detect obstacles and prevent the door from opening if there is not enough space for it.
The Audi Q9 introduces the advanced Bang & Olufsen 4D sound system. Thanks to the actuators in the front seats, passengers can physically feel the sound, while the speakers in the headrests enable private phone calls and navigation instructions without disturbing other passengers. The center console offers two wireless chargers with fast charging and USB-C ports with a power of up to 100 W.
The world premiere of all the possibilities of this flagship of the SUV model is scheduled for the summer of 2026.
