Although it has probably the most developed car industry in the world, Germany has chosen mostly foreign products for the car of the year this year as well.
After Honda won the flattering title of German car of the year last year, this year the title goes to Korea for as many as two categories, The model responsible for the great success is the electric EV6, which won in front of strong domestic forces such as VW ID.4, Audi Q4 e-tron, Skoda Enyaq, but also Mercedes C class and twin Hyundai Ioniq 5.
A jury of 20 automotive journalists evaluated the new models in several categories. There are three main categories, namely “compact” for vehicles with a price lower than 25,000 euros, “premium” for vehicles with a price of up to 50,000 euros and “luxury” for vehicles more expensive than 50,000 euros. The selection once again included an additional category of “new energy” for vehicles powered by batteries or hydrogen. The Kia EV6 was 2nd in this category, while the first place went to the Hyundai Ioniq 5.
In the compact segment, the best is the Peugeot 308, while the best premium is the Kia EV6. The German colors defend the Audi E-Tron GT in the luxury vehicle class and the Porsche 911 GT3 as the best sports novelty.
