Motorola could overtake Samsung and be among the first Android phone manufacturers to offer full Qi2 support with magnets built directly into the device’s case. For years, iPhone models were practically the only phones with integrated magnets similar to the MagSafe system. Android users could get a similar experience, but mostly by using special masks with a magnetic ring.
That changed last year with the introduction of the Pixel 10 series, which became the first Android line with factory-built Qi2 support and installed magnets. Thanks to this, compatible chargers and accessories can be attached directly to the back of the phone.
Motorola Edge 70 Max could offer full Qi2 support before Samsung
Even with the Galaxy S26 series, Samsung did not introduce a full Qi2 solution. The phones are Qi2 Ready, which means they support the basic wireless charging standard, but don’t have the built-in magnets needed to automatically align the charger and connect accessories directly.
Motorola is now reportedly preparing the Edge 70 Max, which has appeared in the database of the certification body Wireless Power Consortium. The records confirm the device’s name, model designation, and support for Qi wireless charging. According to the available data, the Motorola Edge 70 Max supports the Qi2.2.1 standard, which indicates the latest version of Qi2 wireless charging with a power of up to 25 W.
An even more important detail is the listing of the Magnetic Power Profile. This mark usually indicates the presence of built-in magnets to properly align the phone and charger.
If the information from the certification is correct, the Motorola Edge 70 Max will not only be a Qi2 Ready device, but will offer a complete Qi2 solution and usage. This includes support for wireless charging and direct attachment of magnetic chargers, stands, wallets and other compatible equipment.
Such a move would allow Motorola to introduce full Qi2 support before Samsung, whose users still rely on special magnetic covers to use similar accessories.
There is not much other information about the phone for now. Apart from the name, model designation and information from the WPC certification, the specifications of the Motorola Edge 70 Max device are not yet known, writes Android Central.
