The tennis season is in full swing, and it looks like it will be accompanied by a new series this year, and another attempt to get a quality and fun simulation of this popular sport after more than ten years of waiting.
The new tennis game is called Matchpoint: Tennis Championships, based on Torus Games and released by Kalypso Media. The game should be out this spring, and so far we’ve got the first, rather “silent” trailer that concentrates on the elements of the game, deprives us of the musical background, and was made in CGI. Despite the fact that there are no real gameplay clips, great animation of the players, excellent control of the players, and authentic ball physics are announced. But despite that, experience has taught us not to look forward too much, because despite some licenses, real tennis players and attention to animation and physics, many recently released tennis games failed to keep people for long, and it took a lot more effort and animation so that the games do not turn out stiff, and eventually boring in their gameplay performance.
Of the confirmed tennis players, so far we know that Nick Kyrgios, Kei Nishikori, Amanda Anisimova, Garbine Muguruza, Heather Watson and Daniil Medvedev will be in the game, although we believe this is not the end of the list. He also released a video with them of how they present this game and assure us that it will be great:
