Based on the book by Candice Bushnell, the plot of the series “Sex and the City” revolves around fashion-obsessed columnist Carrie (Parker) and her three friends Miranda (Nixon), Charlotte (Davis), and Samantha (Cattrall). It was first shown in 1998, and in six years it won seven Emmys and eight Golden Globes.
After the announcement of the shooting of new episodes in January, many said that now the series, which used to push the boundaries, seems a bit outdated and that it is necessary to add diversity and make some cultural changes.
Chelsea Fairless, the author of the portal “Every Outfit on Sex and the City”, said that the series was “white to be white”.
“No non-white person has ever been a permanent member of the cast,” she said.
That is why, along with Nicole Ari Parker, some non-white characters will appear in the new episodes, played by Sara Ramirez, Karen Pittman, and Sarita Choudhury.
The production company “WarnerMedia” announced that the series will follow the lives of characters who, after the complicated thirties, circulate through an even more complicated reality and friendship in the fifties.
(Updated September 22st) The first clips of new episodes of the series Sex and the City, called “And Just Like That”, appeared on the social network Twitter.
HBO released a trailer for new series and movies coming to the platform on Sunday after the 2021 Emmy Awards, including “And Just Like That.”
In just a few seconds of the trailer, which is dedicated to the popular series, Parker, Nixon and Christine Davis are shown greeting an unknown person, and all three look like fashion icons.
Shortly after that scene, Carrie and Mr. Beast are shown hugging while in the kitchen, and in a split second you can see their kiss.
“Did the directors make them grow old?”, “More like Golden Girls”, “I have a feeling that they suddenly became old, at least they don’t use Botox”, “They are funny”, are just some of the comments of former fans of the cult series ” Sex and the city”
And Just Like That… Plot?
