The Xbox Game Pass for PC is now the PC Game Pass

Microsoft has admitted that it was challenging to sell the Game Pass subscription service to PC players while the word Xbox is in the name.

The Xbox Game Pass is divided into two parts: the Game Pass for the Xbox console and the Game Pass for the PC platform. Although both are covered by the more expensive subscription level (Game Pass Ultimate), the offer of games is not the same on both platforms and in fact they are two separate subscriptions. But that wasn’t the main problem Microsoft faces with the Game Pass. The bigger challenge was to explain to PC players how the Xbox Game Pass is not a subscription only for Xbox consoles.

After many years of trying, they came to the conclusion that the Xbox in the name simply bothered them, so they decided to change it to a PC. The former Xbox Game Pass for PC has now been renamed PC Game Pass. The Xbox isn’t entirely discarded from the title – it’s still there as a logo, but it’s now easier to distinguish between the Xbox Game Pass (for Xbox) and the PC Game Pass (for PC).

Earlier, it was rumored that Microsoft could remove the Xbox from the name Xbox Game Pass intending to appear on other consoles as well. However, this year the Xbox boss revealed that other platforms don’t want the Game Pass so they won’t even get it.

Microsoft also listed some upcoming games coming to the PC Game Pass on day one:
