Internet without mobile network and Wi-Fi, but with 5G speeds

Apple introduced satellite communication in its phones with the iPhone 14 series, but until now it was limited exclusively to urgent messages and calls in certain regions. According to new information from the industry, the upcoming iPhone 18 Pro series could make a big technological leap and bring a much more advanced version of this feature.

According to the well-known tipster yeux1122, the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max models could become the first smartphones in the world with support for so-called 5G satellite communication. Although additional technical details have not yet been revealed, the announcement itself suggests a significant change in the way of connecting to the network.

iPhone 18 Pro and 5G satellite connection as the next big step

Unlike the current satellite function on iPhones, which only allows sending short messages or emergency calls, a 5G satellite connection could offer significantly higher speeds. This would allow users to use the Internet for video calls or transfer large amounts of data even in areas without a classic mobile network and Wi-Fi infrastructure.

However, such a system largely depends on cooperation with telecommunication operators, and the payment method represents an additional challenge. If this information turns out to be correct, it is very likely that the feature will initially only be available in a limited number of countries.

Now it actually becomes clearer the statement of Elon Musk that Starlink and SpaceX will replace the classic GSM operators with terrestrial infrastructure and all its limitations with today’s generation transceivers. In markets like Serbia and the region, where commercial satellite tariffs for individual users do not yet exist, the mass application of this technology could take some time.

If Apple does introduce 5G satellite connectivity to the iPhone 18 Pro series, it could be one of the biggest technological breakthroughs in the mobile industry in recent years, especially for users who are often out of reach of traditional network infrastructure.
