The Lego Group and hypercar manufacturer Koenigsegg presented a joint collaboration, in which a life-size functional replica of the Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear model set a new speed record. Driving on Goodwood’s legendary hill course (albeit downhill), this one-of-a-kind Lego car reached a speed of 111 km/h. This more than doubled the previous record for a large Lego Technic vehicle, which was 50 km/h, and at the same time opened a new category of speed records in the history of Goodwood.
An engineering feat made of dice
He was behind the wheel of this unusual vehicle Markus Lundhthe official test driver of Koenigsegg. This venture is also a tribute to his success from 2025, when he set a hill climb record with a real Sadair’s Spear at the Goodwood Festival of Speed.
More than 9,400 hours of work were required for the development and construction of this running model. The vehicle is composed of a total of 327,906 elements, and its total mass is approximately 1,800 kilograms, of which the Lego bricks alone weigh 400 kilograms. The replica faithfully conveys the functionality of the real car, including a lightweight body made entirely of Technic elements.
This historic challenge and record breaking was organized to celebrate the launch of the new LEGO Technic Koenigsegg Sadair’s Spear Megacar commercial kit. The miniature version of the car was developed in close collaboration between the design teams of both companies to ensure maximum precision and performance simulation.
Coming to collectors soon
The new collector’s set consists of 4,104 elements and brings a number of advanced engineering solutions. These include an authentic V8 engine with moving pistons, a functional nine-speed gearbox, a unique Triplex front and rear suspension and a rotating disc that visually shows which gear the model is currently in. The vehicle also has functional steering and a removable roof.
The main innovation on the model is the working “Ghost Mode” system. With one movement of the hand, the user can raise the back cover, swing the recognizable doors, raise the front engine cover and fold the mirrors, which completely copies the mechanics of a real hypercar. The set will be available on the market from July 4, 2026 at a recommended price of 449.99 euros.
