The Chinese set a new world record in processor overclocking – 9.206 MHz

A Chinese overclocker nicknamed wytiwx has set a new world record for the operating clock of a single desktop processor.

Back in 2022, overclockers broke the limit of nine gigahertz for the operating clock of desktop processors. After that, year after year we see small (but important) shifts towards an even higher operating clock, and just recently a new record was set in overclocking.

Nicknamed Chinese overclocker wytiwx with his team he managed to reach 9,2 gigaherzaor more precisely – 9.206 MHz. A processor was used for the record Inter Core i9 14900KF which without overclocking normally reaches a working clock of six gigahertz.

Of course, the processor was cooled with liquid nitrogen, and numerous features were disabled in order to achieve such a result. Therefore, there is no question that this overclocking record has any practical application in gaming.

The entire overclocking process is documented in this video, but only in Chinese.

As things stand, we may reach the mythical 10 gigahertz processor in about 7-8 years – maybe even earlier if there are some leaps in the development of technology.
