The Bible, the holy book of Christianity and Judaism, and the New Testament mention (in the Gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John) the place where Jesus was crucified, Golgotha. This is how the place is described in some sentences where Jesus was crucified: In the Gospel of Matthew in chapter 27: “And they came to a place called Golgotha, that is, the place of the skull, and they gave him to drink wine mixed with bile.

The place where Jesus was crucified is called Calvary or Golgotha
According to the Bible, Golgotha (Hebrew) or Calvary (Latin Calvaria) is a hill, a hill outside the ancient walls of Jerusalem where Jesus was crucified. In our tradition, the name Calvary is mentioned more often, and sometimes the name “Skull” is mentioned in translations of the Bible, which is also a translation from the Latin word Calvary. The hill of stone that is described was given such a name because it probably resembled a skull and where executions were carried out at that time. This is the place where Jesus was crucified and after severe torment and suffering he died on the cross.
That is why the words Calvary or Golgotha have the meaning of great torment, suffering, martyrdom and great tribulation. The ancient Romans carried out thousands of crucifixions, the most famous of which is of course Jesus Christ who sacrificed himself for the love of men. This Holy Place is guarded by Orthodox, Catholics and Armenians, while it is especially interesting that the guardians of the keys to the door are Muslims.
Where exactly is the place where Jesus was crucified
Golgotha, the place where Jesus was crucified, was in the time of Christ outside the walls of the city of Jerusalem. As the city expanded, the site of Golgotha is thought to be within the city, but the exact location of Golgotha today cannot be determined with certainty today as Jerusalem has changed a lot in the last 2000 years. Exact place where Jesus was crucified it may possibly have historical but not spiritual significance or value. So the place of Jesus ‘crucifixion is in present-day Israel, in the center of Jerusalem, and the Basilica of the Holy Sepulcher (Basilica of Christ’s Tomb) marks the place of Jesus’ crucifixion and burial.
This church is the central place of Christian pilgrims in the Holy Land as they call Israel. The Basilica of Christ’s Tomb is now jointly owned and used by three major religious communities, the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land as representatives of the Roman Catholic Church, the Jerusalem Patriarchate of the Greek Orthodox Church and the Jerusalem Patriarchate of the Armenian Eastern Orthodox Church. The place where Golgotha or Calvary was located, and the tomb from which Jesus Christ was resurrected, became a holy place for all Christians and Jews.
